Our Philosophy
A luxury stay in Himachal Pradesh, run like a working farm
Most hill resorts put the view first. Here, the view is a farm. Vines are pruned, fruit is picked and the kitchen garden is tended every morning, and much of what reaches your table comes from that work.
That changes what a luxury stay in Himachal Pradesh means. It is not marble or a long list of facilities. It is space, a cottage that is entirely yours, food that was growing a few hours ago, and people who know which tree is ready. The estate hosts no more than twenty guests at a time, so 50 acres never feel shared.
The Land
A vineyard estate in Himachal at 1,300 m
Morning fog rises from the valley, the days are warm and the nights are cool and that swing is what gives the fruit its character.
The vines grow on south and south-west facing slopes between 1,100 and 1,300 m, in limestone-rich soil above the Giri River. It is what makes Raht Juneo Orchards a true vineyard estate in Himachal, rather than a resort with a few vines.

Planted here
Four grape varieties
Each was chosen for how it handles altitude and the temperature shifts of the Shivalik foothills not for what sells easily.
Tempranillo
Thick-skinned and heat-tolerant, it holds its structure on the warmest south-facing rows.
Sauvignon Blanc
Cold nights preserve its acidity and the green, herbal aromatics altitude gives it.
Pinot Noir
Demanding anywhere, but suited to cool nights and the thin air of the foothills.
Chardonnay
Reads its site closely. Here the limestone shows up as weight without heaviness.
How we farm
Minimal intervention, start to finish
No synthetic inputs
No pesticides, herbicides or fertilisers go onto the vines or the orchard.
Hand-picked at dawn
Every cluster is cut by hand while the fruit is still cool.
Native yeasts
Fermentation starts with what already lives on the skins.
Two tons an acre
Yields are held low so the fruit carries more of the site.
Harvest
Mid-June to mid-July
Guests are welcome to join the picking and the grape stomping. Book three to six months ahead for these weeks.
Beyond the rows
The heritage orchard
The trees are grown for flavour, not shelf life, which is why most of the fruit never leaves the estate. You can read more about the vines, the soil and the harvest on our vineyard and orchard page.
Where you stay
Three cottages, five private ways to stay
Spread across the slope so that no two share a view. Each is let in full, we never place unrelated guests under one roof.
Leela Nilay
Two-bedroom cottage
A drawing room, dining area and a porch over the orchard. It is the closest to taraak and suits families and small groups.
Leela Kunja
Two-storey cottage
A private suite on each level with 180° views over the hills. Book the whole cottage, or one level for two.
Leela Drakh
Two adjoining suites
Separate entrances, set among the vines. Book both for two couples, or one for a quieter stay.
Every bedroom has its own bathroom. Compare the three side by side on our cottages page.
Dining
The kitchen that follows the orchard
Taraak is the estate kitchen, and it cooks from what the land gives that morning. About 80% of what we serve is grown on the estate or sourced within 30 km. The chef walks the rows before planning the day, so the menu is decided in the field, not in advance.
The cooking leans on fire, fermentation and preserving: apricots fermented in June, grape leaves fried in tempura, plums turned into condiments for winter. Estate wines are poured alongside.
